Memorandum of Agreement on Dual Degree Program Between Institute of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, National Yang-Ming University, Taiwan And Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia

Dual Master’s Degree Program

  • DMD - Proposal for the courses to be taken at NYMU by UTAR students

1. Selection- the number of students participating in this programme will be 1 minimum per year from each side, 2 students per year being the goal the parties wish to reach.

2. Course Requirement in NYMU

1) Compulsory subjects: Advance Pharmacology (3 credit points); Research Ethics (no credit points)
2) At least one Elective subject from Pharmacology (3 credit points) OR Experimental Pharmacology (3 credit points). And other elective subjects may also be required based on further announcement by the Division of the Academic Affairs of the university
3) In each semester, candidates must attend Seminar of Pharmacology (the required Journal Club) session (2 credit points)

3. Application package
1) Application form of NYMU (master)
2) Letter of motivation and study plan
3) Official student transcript of records
4) Two Recommendation letters from supervisor
5) Course programme approved by programme supervisor (共同指導協議書)

Deadline for application: Oct 31 for the second semester (Feb1 ~ Jul 31) ; Apr 30 for the first semester (Aug1 ~ Jan 31)

  • DMD - Proposal for the courses to be taken at UTAR by NYMU students

1. Selection- the number of students participating in this programme will be 1 minimum per year from each side, 2 students per year being the goal the parties wish to reach.

2. Course Requirement in UTAR- candidates must complete the following units in UTAR
1) Research Methods in Medical Sciences (3 credit hours)
2) Directed Readings in Medical Sciences (3 credit hours)
3) Other Requirements including graduation requirement, such as Work Completion Seminar, Viva-Voce for Thesis/Dissertation Examination, etc, are as stated in the Rules & Policies governing the Master’s programme in UTAR.

3. Application package
1) Application for Admission to Postgraduate Programme in UTAR.
2) Fill up and complete the application form. For application by Research programme, applicant is required to attach his/her research proposal together with the application form.
3) Get 2 referees to complete the applicant’s referee forms (Referees shall not be the proposed supervisor for application by Research Programme).
4) Prepare a non-refundable processing fee of RM60 (for Malaysian applicant) or RM300/USD100 (for International applicant) in Money/Postal Order/Bank Draft/Banker’s Cheque or Personal Cheque (where drawee bank is in Malaysia) made payable to “Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman”. Or through Telegraphic Transfer to UTAR Bank Account with details as follows.

6) Health Examination Report

6.2 NOC (No Objection Certificate) is required for applicant from Sub Saharan African countries While LOE ( Letter of Eligibility) is required for applicant from Federal Republic of Nigeria and Republic of Iran.

Dual PhD Degree Program

  • DMD - Proposal for the courses to be taken at NYMU by UTAR students

Selection- the number of students participating in this programme will be 1 minimum per year from each side, 2 students per year being the goal the parties wish to reach.

1. Course Requirement in NYMU

4) The students must pass the qualifying exam. This exam can be arranged at the student's home Institution.
